SAP PartnerEdge Opens App Development To Partners

SAP AG recently introduced the SAP PartnerEdge program for Application Development, which will empower partners to build, market and sell software applications on top of market-leading technology platforms from SAP, according to company officials.

The new program will provide partners with access to all relevant SAP technologies within a single framework and contract. Apps created under the program can help partners monetize leading industry trends, such as mobility, cloud, database or high-performance in-memory.

“We are convinced that our technologies help companies speed up their business innovation in order to maintain competitive advantage,” said Eric Duffaut, President of Global Ecosystem and Channels for SAP AG. “Joining forces with a strong partner ecosystem that innovates on top of our platforms enables us to best serve our customers’ rapidly evolving needs.”

Through the SAP PartnerEdge for Application Development, partners choose from a set of innovation packs focused on the latest platform technologies from SAP, including the SAP HANA platform, SAP HANA Cloud Platform, SAP Mobile Platform, leading databases from SAP and the SAP NetWeaver platform. Within these packs are technology-specific license rights, resources and services to help partners get enabled, become more productive and develop applications on SAP platforms. The packs are also designed to support custom development for co-innovation with customers, which often is the first step to a standard application.

Participating partners also will have access to a variety of go-to-market support, including the SAP partner logo, free application reviews and the SAP Store, which is the online channel from SAP for numerous kinds of enterprise applications and services. A resell option also was included to help partners bundle and sell technology runtime licenses on their applications.
