Most recently, McBain was Forrester’s Principal Analyst, Channels Partnerships and Ecosystems. Earlier in his career, McBain was the co-founder and former CEO of ChannelEyes, and held executive sales, marketing, channel and strategy roles at IBM, Lenovo and Autotask.

In a LinkedIn post, McBain wrote that he is “excited to join the global team at Canalys – the world’s leading analyst firm with a distinct focus on channels, partnerships, alliances, and ecosystems. The 24-year-old market analysis firm strives to guide clients on the technology industry’s future and to think beyond the business models of the past – delivering smart, timely, and actionable market insights to IT, channel and service provider professionals.”

Canalys was established in September 1998 as its founders recognized a gap in the market for channels-focused IT research. The channel has remained the focus of the company alongside its goal to provide accurate and timely data to the technology industry.
