Jay McBain, a leading channel and ecosystem industry analyst, has joined Canalys, an independent analyst company. In his new role as chief analyst at Canalys, McBain will lead channel research in North America, as well as be an integral part of the firm’s worldwide channels research and advisory team.
Most recently, McBain was Forrester’s Principal Analyst, Channels Partnerships and Ecosystems. Earlier in his career, McBain was the co-founder and former CEO of ChannelEyes, and held executive sales, marketing, channel and strategy roles at IBM, Lenovo and Autotask.
In a LinkedIn post, McBain wrote that he is “excited to join the global team at Canalys – the world’s leading analyst firm with a distinct focus on channels, partnerships, alliances, and ecosystems. The 24-year-old market analysis firm strives to guide clients on the technology industry’s future and to think beyond the business models of the past – delivering smart, timely, and actionable market insights to IT, channel and service provider professionals.”
Canalys was established in September 1998 as its founders recognized a gap in the market for channels-focused IT research. The channel has remained the focus of the company alongside its goal to provide accurate and timely data to the technology industry.
