ForeScout And AirWatch Release New Solution For BYOD

ForeScout Technologies, Inc., a provider of real-time network security solutions for Fortune 1000 enterprises and government organizations, and AirWatch, a mobile device management (MDM) company, recently announced a new partnership. Through the joint venture, the companies will team up to deliver a “comprehensive” mobile security solution designed to combine the benefits of ForeScout network access control offerings and the AirWatch MDM solution, according to a press release.

Together, ForeScout and AirWatch will help organizations keep pace with evolving trends in enterprise mobility and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) business models, both of which are making headway in the enterprise world. By offering a cohesive solution that integrates ForeScout CounterACT and AirWatch MDM, the companies will help make the entire implementation and utilization processes flexible, scalable and secure, according to Gil Friedrich, VP of Technology for ForeScout.

“The ForeScout-AirWatch partnership helps customers overcome the unique challenges of BYOD by obtaining a complete security solution encompassing all three elements: network security, device security, and data security,” Friedrich said in an interview with Channel Marketer Report.

While target prospects for the joint solution primarily are enterprises striving to better manage the use and access of BYOD devices on their network, Friedrich indicated that healthcare, finance, higher education and government markets all “are very actively looking for BYOD security solutions.”

The joint solution will be available to all ForeScout and AirWatch channel partners, noted John Marshall, CEO of AirWatch, which will be beneficial to all players in the channel ecosystem.

“Many of our partners are selling a package of joint offerings, so this partnership, and knowing that our solutions integrate well, makes it easier for them to sell,” Marshall said. “In addition, we have dedicated a full team to government, healthcare, and large enterprise organizations. We are training internal and partner channels and developing a portal for lead sharing as we hear needs from customers and prospects.”

In order to go to market effectively, both organizations are honing in on partner and end-user education and empowerment, Marshall added. “Education is essential to market success, which is why we’re working together to create joint documentation, webinars, and are collaborating at trade shows, individual training sessions and consumer-focused events.”

ForeScout also will be offering resources through its Access Partner Portal and on the on-boarding web app, Friedrich stated. “These systems allow us to quickly communicate and share timely information on the ForeScout-Airwatch integration along with training, demos and sales tools.”

The new solution will offer end-users a variety of capabilities, including:

  • Security automation to help organizations detect unmanaged devices, such as iPads, iPhones and Androids, that are trying to connect to the corporate network in real time. Organizations then have the ability allow, block, limit, register as guest, segregate, and initiate device compliance inspection.

  • Automated installation of the AirWatch MDM agent on unmanaged devices through a simple automated self-enrollment process.

  • The ability to remotely locate, lock and wipe lost or stolen devices.

  • Comprehensive visibility, control and compliance reporting for all mobile endpoint devices including PCs, smartphones, tablets, and laptops via the ForeScout CounterACT platform.
